How you can use CHOP'D Chops and what you are responsible for.

When you download Chops from CHOP'D, you receive audio material intended for creating new original music. Some Chops may come from existing recordings. The source information for each Chop is included in the download folder and in the file metadata where possible — giving you clear information about the original recording behind each Chop.

CHOP'D allows you to use these Chops in your music without owing CHOP'D any royalties, publishing, permissions or clearances. You are free to release your music independently or with a major label. You always keep full ownership of the music you create.

It is important to note that although CHOP'D clears you with CHOP'D, it does not clear you with the owner of the original recording. If a Chop comes from a copyrighted source, any sample clearance that may be required for commercial release must be handled by you or the artist who uses your beat. CHOP'D does not provide sample clearance with original rights holders.

CHOP'D provides the creative material. Clearance of any original song is handled by the person releasing the final track.

1. CHOP'D places no restrictions on how you release

CHOP'D does not restrict how you release your music. You owe us no royalties, no publishing cut, and you do not need our permission to release commercially. You keep full ownership of everything you create.

  • Use CHOP'D Chops to create beats, songs, remixes and other musical works
  • Release on streaming platforms, social media and YouTube
  • Release independently, through a distributor, or with a label — your choice
  • License your music commercially — you owe CHOP'D nothing
  • Keep full ownership of the music you make

2. What you are responsible for

Some Chops may originate from copyrighted works that CHOP'D does not own. CHOP'D does not transfer any rights in the original recording. CHOP'D does not provide legal clearance or permissions for the original song.

If your music uses a Chop from a copyrighted source, any clearance that may be required is the responsibility of you or the artist who uses your beat. Many independent artists choose to release sampled or chopped music without clearing the original. This is an individual choice and the responsibility lies with the person releasing the music.

CHOP'D provides creative material only. CHOP'D does not accept responsibility for decisions related to sample clearance.

3. What you cannot do

  • Reupload, share or distribute Chops in any form
  • Include Chops in sample packs, kits, loop libraries or any product where the Chop is distributed as audio
  • Upload Chops to platforms such as Splice, Tracklib or Looperman
  • Use Chops in plugins, preset libraries, sample players or AI training datasets
  • Repost or distribute a Chop as a standalone file
  • Claim copyright ownership of the Chop itself

A Chop must always be used as part of a new musical work.
